1. Reduce Your Calorie Intake
Nothing new here, everyones heard the advice - the trick here is to reduce your calorie intake in a sustainable way and then stick with it.
Another classic weight loss tip. Walking, running, cycling and sports are all great ways to get more aerobic exercise. Anything that gets the heart rate up is good, just make sure you ease into especially with running.
Strength training is gaining popularity as a way to lose weight. You use calories while doing the exercise and continue to burn more calories as your body repairs and maintains your muscles. It also stops you from using muscle in the weight loss process, this keeps your metabolism working well to support your continued weight loss.
Eating foods with high amounts of vitamins and minerals makes it much easier to reduce your calorie intake. If you're eating foods that are low in nutrients you risk having deficiencies when you start to cut back on calories.
5. Eat Small Amounts Often
Eating 5-6 times a day keeps your metabolism working and reduces the chances of you feeling hungry and going on a junk food binge. You'll also find yourself feeling more energetic throughout the whole day which leaves you in a much better position to do some exercise.
6. Buy A Kitchen Scale
This is great for controlling portion sizes. It can be really enlightening to weigh your food, you may find you're eating a lot more than you thought!
7. Give it a chance, if it doesn't work try something else
It all depends on the person with this one. Some people tend to jump between things without ever giving anything a chance to work, whereas others just blindly stick with one method for ages and eventually give up if it doesn't work. Most sustainable weight loss methods will take several weeks to produce noticable results. If you haven't had any success after a month it's probably time to make some changes to your approach.
8. Commute By Bike Or On Foot
If it's practical cycle commuting or walking can be a great way to motivate yourself to exercise. It's easy to fit into your day, easy to remember and you'll arrive at work and back home feeling energized.
9. Social Workouts
Doing your workouts with others makes it easier to motivate yourself to do it and just more fun in general. Join a sports team, walk or run with a friend etc.
10. Cut Out Soft Drinks
This kind of falls under eating nutritious foods, but soft drinks are such a common way that people consume huge amounts of calories while getting minimal amounts of vitamins or minerals.
